The Jan Lundgren Trio is, with good reason, much recorded by now, as
almost any Swede and plenty of foreigners can tell you. Miriam Aida and
Fredrik Kronkvist, however, haven´t made any recordings before this
one, which doesn´t mean that they´re anything but seasoned performers.
They´re booked up solid, as anyone who´s tried to make a routine date
with them knows for a fact.
…..These are true artists rather than weathered pros: they´re not
showing off on their first record, nor are they going through the
motions. It befits Jan Lundgren, a man of many bags and another
consummate artist, to have had his ears in place at the restaurant
Atmosfär and to eventually make their début possible. Maybe he was
being shrewd as well: he does seem to have great fun being in this bag,
and close to home. These days it´s not common that a piano trio keeps
working as a living organism for six years, making itself accessible to
a thrilling wide range of stylistic challenges. This album benefits
from the fine-tuning of the Jan Lundgren Trio, and its
wholeheartedness: it´s full of gems, of the variety that only turn up
when you really dig down. There´s no mistaking that these brave people
are hard at work on the building.
